National Press Club Hosts Qawwali Evening Featuring Sufi Musical Performances

The National Press Club hosted a Qawwali evening on Friday, featuring soul-stirring performances of traditional Sufi music. The event, held at the Press Club premises at 7:00 p.m., showcased a diverse repertoire of Qawwali in Bengali, Hindi, and Urdu.
Popular Qawwali and Sufi artists Samir Qawwal, Syed Sajjad Hossain Arman, and their respective musical troupes performed several well-known compositions. The program included iconic pieces such as “Ali Ali Maula Ali,” “Parda Hai Parda,” “Amar Deho Mon Bole Nabi Nabi,” “Ishq-e-Nabi Dil Mein Paida Karo,” “Damadam Mast Qalandar,” and “Khaja Baba Khaja Baba Marhaba Marhaba.”
The evening commenced with welcome remarks from the Club’s General Secretary, Ayub Bhuiyan, followed by an inaugural address by the President of the National Press Club, poet Hasan Hafiz. The proceedings were moderated by Kader Gani Chowdhury, convener of the club’s special events and hospitality sub-committee.
The event was attended by several high-profile guests, including Minister of Information and Broadcasting Jahir Uddin Swapan; Minister of Social Welfare and Women and Children Affairs Professor A.Z.M. Zahid Hossain; former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Dhaka Professor Anwarullah Chowdhury; and Manab Zamin Editor Motiur Rahman Chowdhury.
Members of the National Press Club’s management committee were also in attendance, including Treasurer Bakhtiar Rana and committee members Abdul Hai Shikdar, Syed Abdal Ahmad, Kazi Rownak Hossain, Shahnaz Begum Poly, Mohammad Momin Hossain, Masumur Rahman Khalili, A.K.M. Mohsin, and Jahidul Islam Rony.
