BTS is a popular South Korean K-pop boy band. The band kicked off their much-anticipated global concert tour on Thursday (April 9) with a spectacular performance at the Gwang Stadium outside Seoul.

Their tour will cover a total of 34 cities around the world, a new record for the most tour dates ever by a K-pop artist. According to information provided by BTS’s management agency, tickets for the concerts in South Korea, North America and Europe were all sold out within hours of going on sale.

Braving the rain at Thursday’s (April 9) concert, BTS fans dressed in the band’s favorite purple began to gather at Gwang Stadium hours before the show.

With this tour, seven members of the band—RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook—returned to the stage in full force after a four-year hiatus. During breaks, they were engaged in mandatory military training according to South Korean rules.

In 2025, they reunited to record their fifth studio album ‘Arirang’. The album is named after the ancient Korean folk song ‘Arirang’.

The album, released last March, topped the Billboard 200 chart for two consecutive weeks, a first for a K-pop group. In addition, the album’s lead song ‘Swim’ debuted as the number one song on the Billboard Hot 100 chart worldwide.

After Seoul, their next destination is Tokyo. They will then travel through North America, Europe, South America and Asia to reach Australia in early 2027. The grand tour will conclude in March next year in Manila, Philippines.
