Actress and model Ridhika Ridhi found dead in Dhaka after suspected suicide during video call

DHAKA — Authorities have launched an investigation into the death of actress and model Ridhika Ridhi, whose body was discovered at her residence in the capital on Saturday morning.
Police discovered the actress, whose legal name according to national identification documents is Lina Akter, hanging from a ceiling fan in the early hours of August 15.
Bhatara Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mazharul Islam, citing statements from the victim’s family, stated that investigators believe the incident was linked to a domestic dispute. Preliminary reports suggest that Ridhi was engaged in a heated argument via video call with a romantic partner shortly before her death. Family members allege that she took her own life while still connected to the video call.
Sub-Inspector Wadud, also of the Bhatara Police Station, confirmed that officials are currently gathering evidence and verifying the nature of the relationship, as well as the specific circumstances surrounding the final moments leading up to the tragedy. Investigators noted that the precise cause of death will be officially determined following a post-mortem examination.
Ridhika Ridhi gained prominence in the entertainment industry through modeling before transitioning into acting. She appeared in several television dramas, including Ekhane Manush Bikri Hoy, Bohurupi, Double Honeymoon, and Sundori. The actress maintained an active presence on social media, where she frequently shared updates regarding her professional projects.
