Body of missing child found in Manikganj, two brothers were beaten to death on charges of murder

In Manikganj, two people were killed and one was seriously injured in Pituni due to the alleged murder of a missing child. The incident took place in Banparil village of Sadar upazila on Thursday night.

The two deceased are easy bike driver Pannu Mia (45) and his brother Fazlu Mia (28) of Banparil village. Pannu Mia’s son Nazmul (20) was seriously injured in this incident.

According to Sadar police station and local sources, Atika Akter (9), daughter of Dodul Mia of Banparil village of Sadar Upazila went missing on Thursday afternoon. In this incident, the family spread the matter on social media and searched the area by miking. Then around 10:00 pm, the local people found the child Atika with her hands and feet tied to a corn field near the house. The family alleged that the child was killed to loot the gold earrings and necklace.

Suspecting involvement in the murder, the child’s relatives and local people beat up the auto driver Pannu Mia and his brothers Fazlu and Nazmul. Pannu and Fazlu died on the spot. Nazmul was seriously injured. He has been sent to the 250-bed general hospital of the district headquarters.

Sadar police reached the spot and brought the situation under control. Additional police have been deployed in the area. The situation is currently calm. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Manikganj Sadar Police Station Ikram Hossain said that the bodies of the child and the two men were recovered and sent to Manikganj Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. Legal action will be taken after identifying the persons involved in this incident. At the same time, legal action will be taken in cases of public beatings.
