Bangladesh Founder Runa Khan Named Among 2026 Ramon Magsaysay Award Recipients

Runa Khan, the founder and executive director of the Bangladeshi non-governmental organization Friendship, has been named a recipient of the prestigious Ramon Magsaysay Award, often referred to as the Nobel Prize of Asia.

The Ramon Magsaysay Award Foundation announced the 2026 laureates on Monday in Manila, Philippines. Alongside Khan, the foundation recognized two other distinguished individuals for their contributions to society.

The other honorees include Tommy Koh of Singapore and Bo Kyi of Myanmar. Koh is a renowned diplomat, lawyer, professor, and author, while Bo Kyi is a prominent human rights activist and former political prisoner.

The Ramon Magsaysay Award is presented annually to individuals and organizations in Asia who demonstrate exceptional service and integrity in their respective fields.
