Three injured in shooting incident following drug-related dispute in Dhaka Gandaria district

Three people, including a woman, were injured in a shooting incident in the Karatitola area of Gendaria in the capital on Sunday evening. The incident, which occurred around 7:30 p.m., reportedly stemmed from a dispute over control of the local narcotics trade.
The victims have been identified as 33-year-old tea vendor Alamgir, 18-year-old passerby Siyam, and 20-year-old passerby Asha Akter. Following the shooting, they were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for emergency treatment. Hospital sources confirmed that Alamgir sustained a gunshot wound to the head, Siyam was struck in the left side of his chest, and Asha Akter suffered a gunshot wound to her right leg.
According to a preliminary police report, the confrontation began when Md. Monir Hossain, a member of the Ward 40 unit of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), and his nephew, Russell, assaulted associates of a local narcotics dealer and armed operative known as Auto Sajal. Following the altercation, the assailants allegedly cut off electricity to the area before Monir Hossain opened fire indiscriminately with an illegal pistol. The suspects fled the scene immediately after the shooting.
Sub-Inspector Md. Ripon of Gendaria Police Station confirmed the incident, stating that senior police officials were dispatched to the crime scene to conduct an investigation.
Saiful Islam, the father of the victim Alamgir, stated that his son had been at home when he was summoned by unidentified individuals. Alamgir was shot shortly after leaving his house and heading toward his tea shop. Law enforcement authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the attack and are working to apprehend the suspects.
