Successful Chittagong Businessman Dies From Dengue Fever at 32

A self-made entrepreneur who rose from a humble shop employee to the owner of seven clothing stores in Chittagong has died of dengue fever. Mohin Uddin, 32, passed away while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the city last Wednesday.
A native of Ward 7 in Mushapur Union of Sandwip, Mohin had relocated to Chittagong in 2008 in search of better economic opportunities. After years of working in various establishments, he eventually opened his own clothing outlet, “Smart Lady,” in the Chawkbazar area in 2020. Over the past six years, his business grew significantly, allowing him to expand his operations to seven storefronts.
Mohin began suffering from a fever last Monday and was admitted to a private hospital the same day. Medical tests conducted on Wednesday afternoon confirmed he had contracted dengue. Despite efforts to stabilize his condition, he succumbed to the illness shortly thereafter. He was laid to rest in his hometown of Sandwip on Thursday morning.
The loss has devastated his family, including his wife, Raziya Sultana, and their three young children—a six-year-old son and two daughters aged four and two. Raziya, who first met Mohin while they were both working at the same shopping mall, expressed profound grief over the sudden end to the life they had built together from nothing.
Family members and childhood friends gathered at the ancestral home in Sandwip on Saturday to mourn his passing. Ashraf Ullah, a close friend and neighbor who accompanied Mohin to the hospital, described the tragedy as an unbearable loss. Mohin’s older brother, Alamgir, reached the hospital just moments before he died, noting that he was unable to share a final conversation with his sibling.
The death of the young businessman has cast a shadow of sorrow over his community, as relatives struggle to come to terms with the sudden void left by a man whose professional success was cut short by the disease.
