Police release father and brother of suspect in Rangpur quadruple murder case following interrogation

RANGPUR — Detectives in Rangpur have released the father and brother of Siddharth Das, a primary suspect in the recent quadruple homicide in the Kamal Kachna area, following four hours of questioning on Saturday.
Investigators took Binay Das and his elder son, Partha Das, into custody at approximately 5:30 p.m. and transported them to the Detective Branch (DB) office for interrogation. According to law enforcement officials, the pair were released at 10:30 p.m. after investigators determined that they provided no new information regarding the killings.
Sanaton Chakraborty, Deputy Commissioner of the Rangpur Detective Branch, stated that the two individuals had been invited to the office for questioning on multiple occasions regarding the sensitive case but had failed to appear. Consequently, detectives brought them in for formal questioning on Saturday afternoon.
The investigation follows the discovery of four bodies inside a residence in the Mashuapara neighborhood last Saturday. The victims were identified as retired Rangpur Zila School teacher Ganapati Chakraborty, 65, his wife Pritilata Chakraborty, 50, their daughter Agami Chakraborty Prarthi, 25, and their 12-year-old son, Ayush Chakraborty. Police forensic findings indicate that all four victims died of strangulation.
A murder case was filed at the Rangpur Metropolitan Kotwali Police Station by Gopinath Chakraborty, the brother of the deceased Ganapati Chakraborty. Following the investigation, police arrested Siddharth Das and Mughdha Das, the son of Kanu Das. Both suspects have since provided voluntary confessions to the court regarding their involvement in the murders.
