Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrest 560 in citywide anti-narcotics drive

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 560 individuals during a series of anti-crime operations conducted across the capital over the past 24 hours. Following these arrests, authorities filed 46 separate cases at various police stations under the jurisdiction of the DMP.
The operations took place between midnight on Tuesday and midnight on Wednesday. According to a breakdown provided by the DMP, the arrests were distributed across various administrative divisions of the capital. The Mirpur division recorded the highest number of apprehensions with 146 suspects, followed by the Uttara division with 74, the Tejgaon division with 92, the Motijheel division with 63, the Gulshan division with 52, the Wari division with 54, the Ramna division with 45, and the Lalbagh division with 30. An additional four individuals were taken into custody by the Detective Branch.
During the sweep, law enforcement officials recovered a significant quantity of contraband and illicit items. The seized cache included 14,678 Yaba tablets, 250 grams of cannabis, 21 liters of locally produced alcohol, and five mobile phones.
