Dhaka Metropolitan Police and RAB implement heightened security measures across capital for Eid-e-Miladunnabi

DHAKA — Security forces have implemented comprehensive measures across the capital and throughout the country to ensure public safety and maintain order during the observance of Eid-e-Miladunnabi. Both the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) and the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) issued formal statements on Tuesday detailing the deployment of enhanced security protocols to prevent potential disruptions.

The DMP has established a multi-layered security framework across Dhaka, reinforcing checkposts at all entry points and conducting picket duties throughout the city. Intelligence units, including the Detective Branch (DB) and Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit, have increased surveillance, while specialized teams—including SWAT, bomb disposal units, and K-9 squads—are conducting sweeps at high-traffic areas and sensitive locations.

Key installations are being monitored around the clock via closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras and drone surveillance. Furthermore, plainclothes officers from the City Special Branch (CTSB) and Intelligence Analysis Division (IAD) are operating across the capital to gather actionable intelligence. Additional police personnel have been assigned to escort processions and secure venues hosting religious discussions and Milad Mahfils, with senior officers directed to supervise field operations directly.

Nationwide, the Rapid Action Battalion has intensified its patrolling and deployed additional intelligence officers to detect potential threats. RAB officials confirmed that security plans include the engagement of local imams, community leaders, and civil security committee members to coordinate efforts at the grassroots level.

RAB has also mobilized its bomb disposal units and dog squads to remain on standby for emergency responses. Authorities have specifically cautioned against sabotage or provocative activities, noting that cyber-patrolling has been bolstered to identify and mitigate the spread of rumors or inflammatory content on social media platforms. Security agencies remain on high alert to neutralize any attempts by malicious groups to disturb public peace during the religious commemorations.
