Bangladesh Government Pursues Procurement of Chinese J-10CE Fighter Jets to Modernize Air Force

The Bangladeshi government is moving forward with plans to procure Chinese-made J-10CE fighter jets as part of an ongoing initiative to modernize the Bangladesh Air Force, the Prime Minister’s Advisor for Information and Broadcasting, Zahed Ur Rahman, announced on Tuesday.

Speaking at the Secretariat, Rahman highlighted the combat capabilities of the J-10CE, citing its track record in regional conflicts where the aircraft demonstrated effectiveness against rival platforms. He further noted that the Chinese fighter jets are significantly more cost-effective compared to European-manufactured alternatives.

The government has already submitted draft agreements for the procurement of these fighters, alongside plans for the acquisition of Multi-Role Combat Aircraft and additional attack helicopters. These proposals are currently pending final approval.
