The arrests were confirmed during a press conference held at the Rajbari Superintendent of Police office on Sunday evening. According to police, Barek Sheikh orchestrated the murder to seize control of approximately 800,000 taka held in a Fixed Deposit Receipt (FDR) belonging to his brother. Investigators revealed that Barek had plotted the killing months in advance, purchasing two sharp machetes from Khanhanapur Bazar in the Rajbari Sadar Upazila to carry out the crime.

Barek allegedly contracted the two shop employees to assist in the murder for a fee of 3,000 taka, providing them with an initial payment of 1,700 taka. On Saturday afternoon, while Faruk Sheikh was sleeping at his home near the Jamtala Bazar area, the three suspects attacked him, decapitating him and severing his hands.
