Father and Son Killed in Road Accident in Bogura Ahead of HSC Practical Exam

BOGURA, Bangladesh — A father and his son were killed in a road accident in the Chilimpur area of Bogura early Sunday morning while attempting to repair a broken-down truck.

The victims were identified as Tapas Kumar Sarkar, 43, and his 18-year-old son, Ramdayal Sarkar. Ramdayal, a science student at Summit School and College in Sherpur, was scheduled to sit for his Information and Communication Technology practical examination on Sunday.

According to family members, Tapas Kumar was involved in the transport business and operated one of his two trucks. On Saturday night, the truck experienced mechanical failure in Bogura’s Chilimpur area. Ramdayal had traveled from their home in Ramchandrapur, Sherpur, carrying 30,000 taka to assist with the repair costs. While the pair was attending to the stationary vehicle, another truck struck them, resulting in the deaths of the father, the son, and a third unidentified individual.

The tragedy has devastated the local community in Ramchandrapur. Dipali Rani Sarkar, 35, the wife of Tapas and mother of Ramdayal, has been inconsolable following the loss of her husband and only child.

Anandamohan Sarkar, 80, the father of Tapas, expressed his profound grief, noting that the family had relocated from Mordia village in Sirajganj to Sherpur fifteen years ago specifically to provide his grandson with better educational opportunities. He lamented that he now faces an uncertain future, having lost both his son and grandson.

Sagar Kumar Roy, a relative of the deceased, stated that the bodies would be transported to their ancestral village in Sirajganj for funeral rites following the completion of necessary legal procedures.
