Actor Dev visits Mithun Chakraborty in hospital following hand surgery

Tollywood actor Dev visited veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty at a private hospital near the Bypass in Kolkata on Friday night, shortly after returning to Delhi from a film shoot in Ladakh. The visit followed a surgical procedure performed on the legendary actor the previous day.

Mithun Chakraborty underwent surgery on Thursday evening to remove a metal plate that had been inserted in his right hand due to an injury sustained approximately two years ago. According to hospital and family sources, the veteran actor is responding well to treatment and is currently in stable, out-of-danger condition. State Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari also visited the hospital on Friday morning to check on the actor’s health.

Dev, who had been in Ladakh filming songs for his upcoming movie “Deshu Sat” alongside co-star Subhashree Ganguly, arrived in the city and immediately headed to the hospital. Addressing the media after the visit, Dev emphasized that his relationship with Chakraborty transcends political affiliations. “Regardless of which party Mithun-da belongs to, he is like a father to me—he was, is, and will remain so. I am like his son,” Dev said, expressing his wish for the actor’s swift recovery and return to work, noting that the two have upcoming collaborative projects.

The actor also shared a photograph of their meeting on social media, reiterating his sentiments regarding Chakraborty’s health and well-being.

The bond between the two actors has frequently attracted public attention, particularly during the success of their film “Projapati,” which faced political controversy and exclusion from the Nandan film center due to Chakraborty’s affiliation with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Despite pressures from various political quarters, including disagreements with Trinamool Congress leaders, Dev has consistently maintained his personal connection with the veteran star.

While media reports indicate that Dev has reportedly shifted from the Trinamool Congress to the NCP, the actor has remained silent on his formal political standing. Sudip Bandyopadhyay previously attributed Dev’s absence from recent meetings between former Trinamool MPs and the Prime Minister to his filming commitments in Ladakh. Throughout these political developments, the professional and personal rapport between Dev and Chakraborty has remained resilient.
