Jamaat-e-Islami Expels Local Leader in Habiganj Following Allegations of Misconduct

The Jamaat-e-Islami party has expelled Nurul Islam, the local leader of the Ghazipur Union branch in the Chunarughat sub-district of Habiganj, following allegations of immoral conduct. The decision was formalized during an emergency organizational meeting held by the Chunarughat sub-district committee on Thursday afternoon.
Idris Ali, the sub-district Ameer for Jamaat-e-Islami, confirmed the expulsion, stating that the leadership verified the allegations against Islam before moving to strip him of his party membership. According to local reports, the disciplinary action stems from an incident involving the wife of a local man with a disability.
Residents reported that Islam was apprehended late Tuesday night after being discovered inside the woman’s home. Her husband raised an alarm, prompting neighbors to intervene and detain the local politician on the spot. Although local party officials initially intervened on Wednesday morning to secure his release with promises of an internal inquiry, the subsequent emergency meeting resulted in his formal removal from the organization.
When contacted for comment via telephone, Islam terminated the call upon learning he was speaking with a journalist. Subsequent attempts to reach him were unsuccessful, as his mobile device remained powered off.
