RAB arrests two with submachine gun and firearms in Rajbari raids

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested two individuals in Rajbari following separate operations that resulted in the seizure of a foreign-made submachine gun, a pistol, and 34 rounds of live ammunition. The elite anti-crime unit confirmed the details of the crackdown during a press conference held at their media center in Dhaka’s Karwan Bazar on Thursday.

Later that same night, around 10:15 p.m., the agency conducted a second raid near the Jalil Member Bridge in the Choto Bhakla area of Goalanda Upazila. During this operation, officers arrested 36-year-old Hasan Ali Biswas. The search of his person yielded a foreign-made pistol, a magazine, six rounds of ammunition, several indigenous weapons, four mobile phones, and 15,300 taka in cash.

The RAB official emphasized that the unit remains committed to maintaining surveillance and conducting specialized operations to combat illegal arms trafficking, terrorism, and narcotics-related crimes. Legal proceedings against both suspects are currently underway, with officers preparing to file charges under the Arms Act at the relevant police stations.
