Bangladesh and U.S. Armies Conclude Joint Tiger Lightning 2026 Exercise in Sylhet

The joint military exercise “Tiger Lightning 2026,” conducted by the Bangladesh Army and the United States Army Pacific, concluded on Wednesday at Jalalabad Cantonment in Sylhet. Brigadier General Md. Humayun Kabir, Director of the Military Training Directorate of the Bangladesh Army, served as the chief guest at the closing ceremony.

Initiated on July 19, the exercise brought together members of the Bangladesh Army’s Para Commando Brigade, the U.S. Army Pacific, and the Oregon National Guard. The collaborative event was designed to bolster mutual cooperation, enhance strategic operational capabilities, and refine preparedness against complex global threats.

A total of 180 personnel participated in the program, including 88 members from the U.S. Army Pacific and the Oregon National Guard, alongside 92 experts and commandos from various formations of the Bangladesh Army. The training focused on critical areas such as regional and global security, counter-terrorism, disaster management, and humanitarian assistance.

This initiative underscores a sustained partnership between Bangladesh and the United States, reflecting a shared commitment to addressing natural disasters and international security challenges through joint operations. During the concluding event, Brigadier General Kabir formally recognized the participants’ efforts by awarding certificates and presenting commemorative insignia to each member.

The ceremony was attended by senior military officials from both nations, representatives from the Armed Forces Division and Army Headquarters, and various subject matter experts who oversaw the training curriculum.
