One person died in Kilghushi during the dispute over the naming of a mosque in Sylhet

A person was killed in Kilghushi during a dispute over the dispute over the naming of a mosque in Sylhet Sadar Upazila. His name is Delwar Hossain (50). He is a resident of Galim village of Moghalgaon union of the upazila. The incident took place in front of the Galangshah Mosque in Galim village on Friday afternoon.

Talking to the police and local people, it has been said that for the last few days, there was a dispute between the two sides regarding the naming of the mosque in Galim village. To resolve the issue, arbitration was organized with both sides yesterday afternoon. During the arbitration, there was a verbal dispute between the two parties. At one stage it turned into a fight. Delwar Hossain was hit by a kick. Later he was rescued and taken to a hospital in Sylhet where the doctor on duty declared him dead. In the night, the body of the deceased was sent to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College morgue.

Shamsul Habib, officer-in-charge of Jalalabad police station, said that this incident happened due to a dispute between two parties regarding the naming of the mosque. It was initially reported that the person was killed by a kick. No written complaint has been filed by the family of the deceased till 1 pm on Saturday. His body is scheduled to be handed over to the family after post-mortem today afternoon.
