Nagad integrates Bangla QR and NPSB to expand nationwide digital payment access

Mobile financial service provider Nagad has officially launched “Bangla QR” payment services, a move designed to unify the nation’s digital transaction landscape. Alongside this integration, the company has introduced an instant “transfer money” facility, allowing users to send funds directly to personal accounts across all commercial banks and other mobile financial service platforms.
The introduction of Bangla QR and the National Payment Switch Bangladesh (NPSB) facility on the Nagad platform marks a significant shift toward a more accessible and secure cashless ecosystem. By adopting this interoperable standard, Nagad has expanded its merchant network to include approximately one million establishments across the country, providing millions of users with greater flexibility in their daily transactions.
The service was formally unveiled on Thursday at an event held in Dhaka’s Banani area, attended by Md. Motachin Billah, the administrator appointed by Bangladesh Bank for Nagad, alongside other senior officials and hundreds of staff members.
Under this new framework, Nagad customers can now scan any standardized Bangla QR code displayed at retail outlets, shopping malls, restaurants, and marketplaces to process payments directly through the Nagad app. This unified system eliminates the need for merchants to display multiple QR codes for different financial service providers, effectively streamlining the payment process for both consumers and business owners.
During the launch, administrator Motachin Billah emphasized that the integration represents a milestone in the nation’s push toward a digital economy. He noted that by providing a single, interoperable payment solution, Nagad is not only simplifying the experience for consumers but also bringing small-scale retailers into the formal digital financial network, ultimately making cashless transactions more efficient and cost-effective for all parties involved.
