Hundreds of fans gathered in the northern Bangladeshi city of Dinajpur on Thursday morning, transforming local streets into a vibrant display of support for the Brazilian national football team. Clad in yellow and blue jerseys and draped in the flags of Brazil, supporters marched through the city to the sound of vuvuzelas, drums, and rhythmic chants, celebrating their passion for the sport despite intermittent rain.

The event, which saw participation from all age groups, was organized by the local “Brazil Supporters Group” in coordination with Robin Miah, a Bangladeshi resident in Brazil and a personal friend of football star Neymar. The rally drew participants from across the district, with many traveling from neighboring sub-districts to join the procession. Supporters traversed the city’s major thoroughfares for over an hour, utilizing motorcycles, electric rickshaws, and pickup trucks to create a high-energy atmosphere that culminated near the Hemayet Ali Hall.

Organizers noted that the festivities were arranged with the hope that images and video of the rally would reach the Brazilian team, specifically via Neymar’s social media channels. The initiative followed a video message from Miah, who expressed his support for the Dinajpur fans and encouraged them to celebrate the spirit of the game together.

For many attendees, the event served as a communal expression of long-standing fandom. Russell Rana, a 40-year-old supporter from Khanasam, described the excitement of gathering with fellow fans, noting that the prospect of their support being acknowledged by their favorite players added to the significance of the occasion. Mainul Islam, another attendee, brought his two daughters to the procession, underscoring the deep-seated cultural enthusiasm that football generates within the region.

The local organizing committee, led by Rubel Islam, Abu Zar Setu, and Badsha Al Kawsar, managed the logistics of the event, which was promoted through social media and local networks. As the rain fell on the crowd, the intensity of the supporters only seemed to increase, underscoring a fervent dedication to the Brazilian squad that has become a hallmark of football culture in Bangladesh.
