Protesters Demand Justice as Teenager Killed Over Dispute in Chandpur

Grieving relatives and local residents staged a protest in the Jamuna Road area of Chandpur on Wednesday, demanding the immediate arrest and prosecution of those responsible for the death of 14-year-old Yasin. The demonstration followed the filing of a formal complaint by the victim’s mother, Ambia Begum, at the Chandpur Model Police Station earlier that morning.
The legal complaint identifies seven primary suspects and names 10 to 12 additional unidentified individuals. While the primary suspect is listed as 18 years old in the official filing, family members and local residents contend that the assailant is a minor who has remained in hiding since the incident occurred.

The confrontation originated on Tuesday morning during a dispute over gathering fruit from a tree in the neighborhood. According to family accounts, a verbal altercation escalated when the suspect began assaulting another individual. When Yasin intervened to question the suspect regarding the violence, the suspect allegedly struck him repeatedly in the head with a bamboo club.
Yasin was initially transported to the Chandpur Government General Hospital for emergency care. Despite receiving preliminary treatment, he succumbed to his injuries while being transferred to Dhaka for advanced medical intervention.

Chandpur Superintendent of Police Md. Rabiul Hasan confirmed that a case has been registered and is being treated with high priority. Law enforcement officials have launched a coordinated operation to track down and apprehend the suspects involved in the killing.
