Meet in chatting app, love from there. A young man came to Itna in Kishoreganj from distant China due to that relationship. Ever since the incident came to light, curiosity has been created in the area. Eager people are flocking to Kishtpur Moralpara of Chowganga Union of the upazila to see him.

The name of the Chinese youth is Gao Weiyan (25). He is from Mue District, Xinxiang City, Henan Province, China. He said that he was working there as an assistant police officer.

According to local sources, Gao Weiyan met Jhuma Akter (19) of Itna Upazila through a chatting app about two years ago. At first it was a simple conversation but gradually a love relationship developed between them. Later Gao came to Bangladesh on the night of May 16 with the decision of marriage. Md. When the incident spread in the area yesterday morning, local people started crowding the house. Gao Weiyan told Prothom Alo that he wanted to come to Bangladesh for a long time. He didn’t like just talking on the phone. He has come so far because he loves Jhuma. He is impressed by the sincerity of the people of Bangladesh.

Nurul Islam, a local resident, said that the issue is being discussed in different parts of the village. Some are worried about the girl’s future, while others see it as a possibility. Many people think that emotional as well as legal issues need to be taken seriously so that no complications arise in the future.

Jhuma’s uncle Shahidul Islam said that the family is discussing the issue. In order not to face any problem in the future, the upazila administration has also been informed about the matter.

Itna Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Makhan Chandra Sutradhar said that the matter is being investigated. According to the instructions of the administration, the Chinese youth met the chairman of the local Union Parishad (UP). If necessary, legal assistance will be provided by the administration.
