The Jamaat worker came wearing a mask and shot in front of the house

A worker of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami was injured in the firing by miscreants in Begumganj upazila of Noakhali. His name is Mainul Islam alias Mahin (24). The incident took place in front of Chadu leader’s house in Ayubpur village of Amanullahpur union of the upazila at around 11:30 on Sunday night. Mahin, who was shot, is the son of Abul Hossain of the same village.
According to the police and local people, Mahin was standing in front of his house and talking to his friends. At that time, two CNG-powered autorickshaws stopped in front of them. Later, four to five masked men got down from the auto-rickshaw and started shooting at Mahin with flashlights.
Mahin received two bullets in his right knee. At that time, when he fell on the ground, the attackers left the scene in an autorickshaw. Friends rescued Mahin while injured and first took him to Noakhali General Hospital with 250 beds. However, due to the deterioration of his condition, he was sent to Dhaka for better treatment at night.
Noakhali District Secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami. Borhan Uddin told Prothom Alo, “Gulibiddha Mahin is an active worker of Jamaat.” We think miscreants tried to shoot him dead out of political revenge.
Begumganj Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Md. Habibur Rahman told Prothom Alo that the police visited the scene after receiving the information. An empty cartridge was recovered from there. The incident is being investigated and efforts are being made to identify the assailants.
