The body of the missing university student from Dhaka was found in Habiganj

Police recovered the half-melted body of Mohammad Farhad Hossain alias Mahir (23), a private university student missing from Uttarkhan Chanpara area of the capital, from Madhavpur in Habiganj. Four days after the disappearance, the body was recovered from a bush on the side of the Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Anandura union of Madhavpur upazila on Tuesday afternoon.
The deceased Farhad is the son of Abdul Awal of Uttarkhan area of Dhaka. He was a student of the Uttara branch of the private World University. Farhad disappeared after leaving home on the night of April 30. Later, a general diary (GD) was filed at the police station on behalf of the relatives, but he was not found.
According to police and family sources, the police arrested a person named Mridul Sarkar (20) for his involvement in Farhad’s disappearance. According to his confession, today Badda Police Station-Police of Dhaka and Madhavpur Police Station-Police of Habiganj recovered Farhad’s body from a bush on the side of Dhaka-Sylhet Highway in Anandura Union of Upazila. Later Farhad’s brother Arif Hossain identified the body.
During the interrogation of the arrested Mridul Sarkar, the police said that on the evening of his disappearance, Farhad Hossain was taken to a residence in Aftabnagar of the capital and tortured and killed in a premeditated manner. On May 1, the body was dumped at that place in Madhavpur via Narsingdi, Brahmanbaria. The police initially believe that the murder was caused by a personal conflict and an extramarital love affair.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Madhavpur Police Station Sohel Rana told Prothom Alo that the body condition report was prepared and sent to Habiganj Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy. After post-mortem, the body was handed over to the family.
