Technology-based policing will be ensured to control crime: IGP

Bangladesh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md. Ali Hussain Fakir said that technology is not only an aid to development but is also changing the nature of crime. Nowadays criminals are adopting new tactics using technology. Therefore, maximum use of technology will be ensured by the police force to control these crimes.

He said these things while addressing the chief guest at the inauguration of nine apps and software in the conference room at the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) headquarters on Wednesday afternoon. At this time DMP Commissioner. Sarwar along with senior police officers were present.

Nine apps and software were launched before the IGP’s speech. They are AI Based Road Transport Act Violation Detection System; Hotel Boarder Information System; Hello DMP App; DMP Online Training System; DMP Residence Allocation System; DMP Leave Management System; DMP Traffic Duty Distribution Software; DMP Employee Performance Evaluation Software and DMP Traffic News Archive.

Ali Hussain Fakir said that the current world is moving towards the fourth industrial revolution, where technology is not only an aid to development but also changing the nature of crime. Criminals are adopting new tactics using technology. So the police force has to ensure maximum use of technology.

The IGP said that these softwares developed under the initiative of DMP are timely and visionary steps, which will strengthen the modern policing system.

Ali Hossain Fakir said that it will be possible to quickly identify traffic law violators using artificial intelligence through Road Transport Law Violation Detection System. This will improve road order, reduce accidents and make traffic management more effective.

He mentioned that the ‘Hotel Boarder Information System’ will make the guest management of residential hotels in the city more orderly and safe. This will strengthen crime prevention and intelligence activities.

The IGP said that the ‘Hello DMP’ app will act as a modern means of communication between the public and the police. Citizens can easily access various services, report complaints and get necessary assistance, which will play a vital role in developing people-friendly policing.

Ali Hossain Fakir also said that these initiatives will make the administrative activities of the police more modern, transparent and dynamic. He expressed hope that Bangladesh Police will be able to ensure public safety at all times by strengthening technology-based activities.
