Four people died in Jamalpur, Mymensingh and Rangpur due to lightning. These deaths occurred between 11:00 am and 11:00 pm today. Among the dead are two workers, one a woman.

The persons who died in Jamalpur are Shamim Mia (37) of Marakandi area of ​​Gaibandha Union of Islampur Upazila and Sagar Islam (18) of Dewanganj Upazila. Among them, Shamim was a farmer and Sagar Islam was a construction worker. They died on the spot in separate lightning strikes.

According to local sources, Shamim went fishing in the old Brahmaputra river in the rain in Marakandi area of ​​Gaibandha Union of Islampur Upazila around 11:00 AM. He died on the spot due to lightning. Later local people recovered his body and took it home. Around the same time, Sagar Islam was working on the construction of a road in Indullamari area of ​​Sapdhari union of the upazila. He died on the spot due to lightning.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Islampur Police Station. Abdul Qayyum Gazi said, confirmed the death of two people due to lightning.

Meanwhile, a young man died due to lightning while fishing in Tarakanda, Mymensingh. According to police and local sources, the name of the deceased youth is Saddam Hossain (32). He is the son of deceased Hamed Ali of Gabargati village of Galagaon union of Tarkanda upazila. Saddam Hussain went fishing in the Rangsa river near the house around seven in the morning. He died on the spot when he was struck by lightning while fishing during rain and thunder. Later the local residents took the dead body home.

Tarakanda Police Station OC Tanbir Ahmed said that the youth died due to lightning while fishing. The police were sent to the young man’s house after receiving the information.

A woman named Sahera Begum (50) died in Taraganj of Rangpur due to lightning. One of his cows was tied to a mango tree in the yard. When it started raining around 11 o’clock, Sahera went out to herd the cow. While fetching the cow, he fell to the ground due to lightning. Later, the family and local residents took him to Taraganj Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.

Sahera Begum’s house is in Kazipara village of Sayar Union of Taraganj Upazila. Confirming the matter, Sawyer Union Parishad Chairman Al-Ibadat Hossain said, the matter is very sad. The whole family is mourning.
