Online classes and official activities every Thursday on energy saving jobs

The Jagannath University (JUB) administration has taken a new decision to deal with the energy crisis. As part of the government’s cost-cutting policy, all academic and official activities of the university will go online every Thursday from next week.

The decision was taken at the 77th special meeting of the Academic Council held at the Vice-Chancellor’s meeting room on Wednesday. The meeting was presided over by the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Raich Uddin.

Vice-Chancellor said, “During this global crisis, we have to be most economical in the use of electricity and energy.” However, first of all, it should be ensured that the students’ studies are not harmed. Necessary instructions have been given to departmental chairmen and teachers regarding online classes. He expressed hope that this crisis will end soon.

In the meeting, the treasurer of the university, Prof. Sabina Sharmin presented the picture of the energy expenditure of the transport sector. He said, if the transportation activities of the university can be stopped at least one day a week, it will be possible to save a large amount of expenditure in the energy sector.

Deans of various faculties, departmental chairmen, registrars, proctors, student welfare directors and related teachers and officials were present in the meeting.
