Teenager Hospitalized Following Brutal Assault Over Theft Allegations in Faridpur

A teenager is receiving medical treatment at Faridpur Medical College Hospital after being severely beaten for allegedly stealing construction materials in Madhukhali, Faridpur. The victim, an employee at a local furniture shop residing in the Naupara Union, suffered extensive bruising and lacerations to his lower body, leaving him unable to sit or move without significant pain.
The incident reportedly occurred on the night of August 30. Family members allege that the victim was accosted by Isarat Molla, 55, and his son, Munna Molla, 22, near a puffed rice factory owned by the elder Molla. According to the teenager, he was lured to the roof of the factory, where his hands, feet, and eyes were bound with rope. He stated that the suspects then accused him of stealing iron rods and proceeded to beat him repeatedly with metal pipes when he denied the allegations.
Family members discovered the teenager in a debilitated state at approximately 12:30 a.m. on August 31 after searching for him when he failed to return home from work. He was admitted to the hospital the following morning as his condition deteriorated.
Isarat Molla has admitted to the assault, claiming the teenager has a history of theft in the area. He alleged that he caught the youth in the act of stealing iron rods from his property. Molla stated that his son and two nephews participated in the beating, adding that he regretted not handing the boy over to the police immediately.
The victim’s grandmother, Rahima Begum, dismissed the theft allegations, asserting that her grandson has never engaged in criminal activity. She expressed distress over the severity of the injuries, which include dark bruising and open wounds across the youth’s lower back and buttocks.
Madhukhali Police Station Officer-in-Charge Shukdeb Roy stated that law enforcement has not yet received a formal complaint regarding the incident. However, he noted that if the family files a report, the police will conduct a thorough investigation and take appropriate legal action against those involved.
