Teenager found dead at Manikganj martyrs monument

Police in Manikganj Sadar Upazila recovered the hanging body of a 15-year-old boy from a Shaheed Minar in the Jagir area on Sunday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Shihab Hossain, son of Selim Mia from Hijuli village. Shihab worked as an employee for a fishmonger at the Manikganj bus stand fish market. Local reports indicate that he did not live with his immediate family but resided with his grandfather at the home of a local resident.

According to the Manikganj Sadar Police Station and local sources, Shihab had been missing since Saturday night. At approximately 7:00 a.m. on Sunday, residents discovered his body hanging at the memorial site located beside a field in the Jagir area and alerted the authorities.

Police arrived at the scene around 9:00 a.m. to recover the body. It was subsequently transported to the Manikganj Medical College morgue to undergo a post-mortem examination.

Monir Hossain, the fish trader who employed the victim, stated that Shihab had requested a day off on Saturday and did not report to work as scheduled.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Manikganj Sadar Police Station, Md. Monir Hossain, confirmed the recovery of the body. He noted that the cause of death remains under investigation, and officials are working to determine whether any foul play was involved in the incident.
