Groom dies of electrocution in Kushtia on eve of wedding reception

A newlywed man in Kushtia’s Daulatpur Upazila died from electrocution late Thursday night, hours before he was scheduled to host his wedding reception. The victim, 22-year-old Ahmed Anas, was electrocuted while attempting to adjust an electric stand fan at his home in Gacher Diar Schoolpara, located in Hogalbaria Union.

The incident occurred at approximately 12:30 a.m. on Friday. According to family members, the house was prepared for a celebratory feast, with guests arriving and preparations for the event continuing late into the night. Anas, the son of Yusuf Ali, had been supervising the arrangements in the courtyard when the power, which had been out since 11:00 p.m., was restored.
