Shariatpur Health Official Faces Public Backlash Over Habitual Tardiness
Dr. Al Bidhan Mohammad Sanaullah, the Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer for Shariatpur Sadar, is facing serious allegations of habitual tardiness and absence from his designated workplace during official hours. Service-seekers and administrative sources reported that the official was absent from his office at approximately 10:30 AM on Tuesday, causing widespread disruption to daily public services and administrative operations.
According to eyewitnesses and local sources, numerous citizens had gathered at the office early Tuesday morning for vital administrative tasks and necessary paperwork approvals. However, due to the officer's delayed arrival, applicants were forced to endure long waiting periods without receiving the required assistance.
Frustrated citizens voiced sharp discontent, noting that the absence of a key health department official forces many to leave empty-handed without completing urgent business. Office staff further explained that the presence of the Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer is indispensable for executing administrative functions, decision-making, and document approvals, warning that his absence severely paralyzes routine office workflows.
When questioned about his failure to arrive at the office on time, Dr. Sanaullah attributed the delay to personal family matters. He acknowledged that he had not yet formally notified the higher authorities regarding his late arrival.
Meanwhile, Shariatpur Civil Surgeon Dr. Md. Rehan Uddin stated that he has been informed of the incident and will look into the entire matter. He assured that appropriate disciplinary measures will be taken in accordance with official rules if the allegations of unauthorized tardiness are proven true. Local residents have since demanded a thorough investigation and strict enforcement of punctuality to ensure uninterrupted public healthcare services.
