Panchagarh Headmaster Passes Away After Receiving Floral Greetings on Teachers Day

year-old headmaster of Mirgarh Government Primary School in Panchagarh Sadar Upazila, passed away from a suspected massive heart attack on Monday morning (October 15), shortly after receiving flowers from his students on the occasion of World Teachers' Day. The tragic incident unfolded at approximately 10:30 AM, casting a profound shadow of grief over the educational institution, students, guardians, and local residents.

According to school colleagues, Azam had arrived at the institution at 9:00 AM as per his daily routine. Students greeted him with flowers to mark Teachers' Day, a gesture he accepted with a warm smile before heading to a nearby tea stall for a morning break shortly thereafter.

Assistant Teacher Shahajul Islam recounted that fellow teachers had retreated to their classrooms after the morning greeting when news arrived at 10:20 AM that the headmaster had suddenly experienced severe chest pain while having tea. An office assistant immediately placed him on an easy-bike and rushed him toward Panchagarh Modern Sadar Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Another assistant teacher, Ataur Rahman, noted that the deceased educator had a prior medical history of diabetes and hypertension. Rahman added that Azam's funeral prayers were scheduled to be held at 9:00 PM in the Mirgarh area, followed by his burial at the family graveyard. He leaves behind his wife, a son, and a daughter, having served as the headmaster of the school since 2012.

Dr. Mokhlesur Rahman, a physician at Panchagarh Modern Sadar Hospital, confirmed the medical assessment over the phone, stating that the teacher had no detectable blood pressure upon being brought into the emergency department. Medical staff administered chest compressions and other resuscitative measures to restore normal breathing before an electrocardiogram confirmed his demise, with preliminary evaluations pointing to a massive heart attack.
