Gunshot Wound Victim Found Dead in Rupsa Fish Enclosure
The bullet-riddled body of a 35-year-old man was recovered by police from a fish enclosure located in Mominbag Bill under Naihati Union of Rupsa Upazila in Khulna on Monday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Md Bappi, a resident of Alaipur village within the same upazila. According to local residents and law enforcement officials, the shooting is believed to have occurred during the early hours, between 5:00 AM and 5:30 AM. Local individuals subsequently spotted the body submerged in the water of a commercial fish enclosure and promptly alerted the authorities.
A team from Rupsa Police Station rushed to the scene following the report and retrieved the body. Initial inspections by police revealed a gunshot wound on the right side of Bappi's neck, alongside visible blunt-force injuries to his head.
Providing further details regarding the background of the deceased, Khulna District Police Additional Superintendent of Police (DSB) Abir Siddiqui stated that Bappi was formerly engaged in the fish trading business and carried a criminal record as an accused in robbery and murder cases. Investigators noted that he rarely stayed in the area consistently.
Preliminary police investigations suggest that the killing may have stemmed from a dispute over the distribution of proceeds from narcotics trading. Authorities have launched an extensive probe to ascertain the exact motive behind the homicide and to identify the perpetrators involved.
