Three detained after teenager abducted and murdered following wedding in Patuakhali

A 16-year-old boy was fatally stabbed late Saturday night after being lured away from a wedding celebration in the Machuakhali village of Patuakhali’s Kalapara upazila. The victim, identified as Tajul Islam, son of Faruk Howladar, succumbed to his injuries before receiving medical attention.
The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. while Tajul was attending a wedding ceremony at the home of local resident Kamal Mridha. According to witnesses and police reports, a group of youths called the teenager away from the festivities and led him to a nearby marshland, where he was stabbed in the abdomen.
Local residents, alerted by Tajul’s cries for help, rushed him to the Amtoli Upazila Health Complex. Dr. Abdullah Al Jubayer, the attending physician, confirmed that the boy was already deceased upon arrival, noting that the severity of the stab wound below the navel led to fatal blood loss.
Following the attack, villagers detained three teenagers suspected of involvement and subsequently handed them over to local authorities. Police arrived at the scene shortly after the incident to initiate an investigation into the motive behind the killing.
Kalapara Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Nazrul Islam stated that while no formal complaint has been filed by the family as of yet, officers are actively interrogating the three detainees to uncover the circumstances surrounding the murder. Police continue to maintain a presence in the area as the investigation proceeds.
