Three dead, two injured in Brahmanbaria road collision

Three people, including a mother and her young son, were killed Friday morning when a fish-laden pickup truck struck their CNG-run auto-rickshaw on the Cumilla-Sylhet highway in Brahmanbaria. The accident occurred at approximately 8:30 a.m. in the Biyailishahar area of Sadar upazila.
The victims have been identified as 45-year-old auto-rickshaw driver Mahbub Hossain, 40-year-old Josna Begum, and her five-year-old son, Ashraful Islam. All three resided in Bahadurpur village, located within the Mulgram union of Kasba upazila.

The collision also left Josna Begum’s husband, 50-year-old Kawsar Mia, and their four-year-old daughter, Adiba, with critical injuries. Following emergency stabilization at the Brahmanbaria General Hospital, both were transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for advanced trauma care.
According to police and local eyewitnesses, the family was traveling from Kasba toward the Sarail-Bishworoade intersection when the pickup truck slammed into the rear of their vehicle. Following the impact, local bystanders and emergency responders transported the victims to the local hospital, where physicians pronounced the driver, the mother, and the young boy dead on arrival.

Officer-in-Charge Abu Taher Dewan of the Sarail Khatihata Highway Police Station confirmed that authorities have arrived at the scene to investigate. While police are actively pursuing leads, the driver and occupants of the pickup truck fled the area immediately after the incident and remain at large.
