The name of the deceased is Ikramul Kabir (25). He is the son of Abdul Rashid of Dakshin Baropota village of Sharsha upazila. According to the police and local people, it was a planned murder. After the murder, an attempt was made to cover up the incident by hiding the body. Everyone has demanded exemplary punishment for the people involved in this incident.
The four arrested are the deceased Ikramul’s wife Munni Begum (22) and Munni’s other husband Md. Farhad, Munni’s father Fazlu Moral and associate Kakali Khatun. In between, Munni used to run a beauty parlor in the area.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sharsha Police Station Maruf Hossain said that it is initially believed that the murder happened due to extramarital relations and financial disputes. Four people were arrested for their involvement in the murder. Munni runs a parlor business. He has already married four times. Both Farhad and deceased Ikramul are her husbands. After the murder, Munni came to GD police station. But when Ikramul’s father Abdur Rashid suspected the matter, he filed a murder case.
According to local residents and family sources, 35 days ago Ikramul went to Munni’s house to collect his due money. He has been missing ever since. Later, the family members searched for him in various places but could not find him. Not being able to find Ikramul, his father Abdur Rashid filed a murder case at Sharsha police station last Friday. The police recovered the body of Ikramul yesterday night based on the source of the case.
At one stage of the investigation, the police arrested Munni’s husband Farhad as a suspect. On the basis of the information obtained during his interrogation, a raid was conducted in Basatpur village yesterday afternoon. Later three more people were arrested. Based on their information, the half-melted body of Ikramul was recovered by digging the paved floor of the cowshed of Munnid’s house.
When the news of the recovery of the body spread, people gathered at the spot. After being missing for a long time, the body was recovered from under the ground of the house, which created a sensation in the area.
Ikramul’s body has been kept at Jessore General Hospital morgue for post-mortem. OC Maruf Hossain said that after the murder, Farhad contacted Munni’s mobile phone with his SIM card. If in doubt, they are asked. During preliminary interrogation, the arrested persons confessed to the murder.
