The deer entered the house after being chased by the dog, after being rescued it is free in Sundarbans

The forest department has rescued a deer that entered a house in Barguna’s Patharghata upazila. The incident took place at Mustafa Farazi’s house in Gabbaria village of Charduani union of the upazila at around six o’clock in the morning on Monday. Later after treatment it was released in a part of Sundarbans.
However, the forest department officials believe that the deer escaped from the leaf trap of a hunter and entered the locality. They claim that a deer poaching gang is active in Gnanpara area of Patharghata.

According to the sources of the forest department and several local residents, since Patharghata upazila is close to Sundarbans, many thought that the deer had lost its way and came to the locality. Others think that it entered the locality after running away from a smuggler.
Asadul, a resident of Gnanpara area, said he saw the deer from a distance while working in the crop field. Later chased by some dogs, the deer ran and got caught in a net. After being released from there, the animal took refuge in the pond of Mustafa Faraji’s house.

Mustafa Faraji said, “I cannot say where the deer came from.” Chased by the dog, it got stuck in the pond of my house. Later I informed the local people along with the forest department. The forest department people came and rescued the deer.
Surjit Chowdhury, special assistant to Gnanpara beat officer, said that a team of forest department went to the spot and rescued the deer after receiving information from local residents. The deer was somewhat ill at the time of rescue. After the necessary treatment, it was released in the Sundarbans.
Patharghata Range Officer Badiul Alam Sohag told Prothom Alo that the deer is believed to have escaped from a hunter’s leaf trap. The forest area is about one kilometer from where the deer was rescued.
