Speaker asked Jamaat MP to be more attentive

The incident took place when the proposal for immediate consideration of the Deposit Protection Bill, 2026 was brought up in the Parliament session.
Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed advised Jamaat-e-Islami MP Saiful Alam Milon to be ‘more attentive’ for raising the issue of another bill instead of the bill under discussion in the legislative session of the National Parliament.
At the same time, he said, in this way, obstacles are being created in the legislative program.
The Speaker then urged the Finance Minister to propose immediate consideration of the bill. After raising the proposal, Saiful Alam asked for an opportunity to speak before the voice vote.
Then the speaker asked him, ‘Honorable member Saiful Alam Dhaka-12, what bill do you want to object to?’ Saiful Alam said in reply, ‘I was speaking in favor of preserving the Bank Resolution Ordinance 2025.’ Then the speaker said, ‘It has not been raised, there is no bill by that name now.’ Then Saiful Alam said, ‘Well, thank you, Assalamu Alaikum.’
At the end of the meeting before adjournment, the Leader of the Opposition drew the Speaker’s attention and said that the agenda that was first given to them contained the ‘Bank Resolution Act’. They are confused whether it will come separately or not.
In response, the speaker said, will come later.
