Relatives are looking for the body of Swapan trader who was shot while taking a boat in the Padma river

Even after 48 hours after he shot and abducted the moneylender, there was no trace of him. On behalf of the family, the relatives are searching for the body in the Padma river with a boat.
Although a case has been filed with the police station in this regard, the police say that since the body was not found, the case has not been accepted as a murder case for the time being. The case is taken as described by the plaintiff. If the body is found, the case will be converted into a murder case.
Swapan Bepari, son of Siddique Bepari of Kalidaskhali village of Chak Rajapur Union of Bagha Upazila of Rajshahi, was shot by a group of people in front of his house at 11:40 pm last Monday. Later they took him in the boat and left. Those men came with two boats.
Police did not declare him dead until the body was found. However, according to his family, Swapan Biabiri is no longer alive. After being shot, his body bled profusely. Humans cannot survive after so much blood loss.
Padma river next to the house of Siddique Bepari. Swapan recently built a separate house a few yards away from his father’s house. He owns a grocery store. There were 33 dredgers to take sand from the river near the house. Dredgers used to buy oil from Swapan shops. A son and a daughter of a fortune teller. The son is studying in ninth standard and the daughter is married.
Swapan’s mother Rokeya Begum said her son came and sat in the air in front of their house due to heat on Monday night. Then 4-5 people came and sat in front of the house to collect sand from the dredger. After a while two boats arrived. The people in the boat asked his son, ‘Why are you here?’ His son replied, ‘This is my house.’ Three times he replied, ‘This is my house.’ Four times his son said, ‘This is my father’s house.’ Then they opened fire.
Swapan Begum’s mother Rokeya Begum said, after hearing this, she opened the window of the house. 6 people were standing by the window. “Close the window or I will shoot you,” they threatened. If not, I will burn it with acid.
In this incident, on Tuesday, Siddique Bepari filed a case at Bagha police station without mentioning the name of any accused. The police did not arrest anyone in this case until two o’clock on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, finding no trace of his son, Siddique Bepari is searching for his son’s body in the Padma river along with family members. They are looking, 24 hours have passed, whether the body has floated somewhere or not.
Swapan’s uncle Anjur Ali (57) was found at the spot this afternoon. He said, there have been numerous shots here. After shooting and killing the son in front of his brother’s house, the men are firing blanks in front of neighbor Alam Biswas’s house as well, so that they do not come out of the house. Then someone opened fire in front of Swapan Bepari’s shop and hurled foul language. Then Babli Begum (30), wife of the Swapan dealer, ran away with her son. Three houses went to the next house and took shelter.
Babli Begum said this afternoon, there were 33 dredgers in the river below the house. After her husband was shot dead, all went away with the dredgers. In the night he received a call from an unknown number. When asked about his identity, he said that he is from Comilla. Then he hung up. Then called three more times, but he did not pick up the phone out of fear. They are now in extreme uncertainty.
In this regard, Rajshahi District Police Spokesperson Additional Deputy Superintendent of Police Sabina Yasmin told Prothom Alo that no trace of the Swapan dealer was found. Police are investigating the incident. It was not confirmed whether the missing Swapan dealer is alive or dead.
Earlier, on October 27 last year, Nazmul Hossain and Aman Mondal were killed in firing over padmachar hay cutting. The next day, the body of Liton Ghosh, who was killed in these firings, was recovered from Kushtia area of Padma river. Then on January 3, attackers entered Sohail Rana’s house at Naushara Char, Palashi Fatepur Karni of Padma River and shot and killed Sohail Rana.
