Proscribed Chhatra League members hold flash protest in Netrokona as police initiate crackdown

Activists from the banned student organization Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) staged a flash protest in the Hironpur Bazar area of Netrokona on Friday morning, defying the current ban on the group’s activities.
The demonstration took place along the Netrokona-Mymensingh highway, where participants carried black flags and banners. A 1 minute and 53 second video of the incident, which has since circulated on social media, shows more than 50 individuals participating in the procession under the leadership of Solaiman Hossain, the BCL president for Purbadhala Upazila.
Local residents reported that the group gathered shortly after 7:45 a.m. and marched for approximately five minutes while chanting slogans. Following the demonstration, the participants dispersed rapidly using motorcycles, easy-bikes, and CNG-run autorickshaws to flee the scene.
Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Purbadhala Police Station, confirmed that law enforcement has been alerted to the incident. Authorities are currently reviewing the footage and interviewing local witnesses to identify the participants.
The police have initiated a formal process to file a case regarding the unauthorized procession. Law enforcement officials confirmed that search operations are underway to apprehend those involved in the protest.
