A security incident occurred Monday morning as Prime Minister Tareq Rahman traveled by road from Dhaka to Barisal, when an object struck a vehicle in his motorcade along the Dhaka-Barisal highway. The event, which took place near the Sadhurbridge bus stand in Madaripur at approximately 8:30 a.m., was captured in a widely circulated video on social media.

The 1-minute and 49-second footage shows the Prime Minister standing inside a bus, waving to crowds gathered along the route. As the motorcade proceeded, a piece of brick landed in front of the third vehicle trailing the bus carrying the Prime Minister.

Madaripur Superintendent of Police Habibur Rahman confirmed the incident to the local newspaper Prothom Alo, stating that authorities are currently investigating the origins of the projectile. Officials are working to determine whether the object was thrown by an individual or if it was dislodged by a vehicle’s tire. Police have urged the public not to be alarmed, noting that a formal analysis of the footage is underway to establish the cause.

The Prime Minister had departed Dhaka by bus earlier in the day for a series of scheduled engagements in Barisal. Following his arrival in Gournadi shortly before 10:00 a.m. and the conclusion of his official itinerary, he departed the region by road at approximately 6:30 p.m.
