Probe report into deaths of six newborns expected tomorrow

Health authorities have launched an investigation into the deaths of six newborns at Ad-Din Hospital in Dhaka, after an initial probe identified severe environmental hazards in the facility’s post-operative ward.
Professor Mohammad Zahid Rayhan, Additional Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), stated Friday that the post-operative room where the infants were treated was suffocating and entirely lacked proper ventilation. Describing the facility as unfit for patient use, Rayhan characterized the loss of six lives in such an environment as highly abnormal.

In response to the tragedy, which occurred last Wednesday, legal action has been initiated against the hospital’s management. Authorities have established an independent investigation committee to determine the specific circumstances surrounding the deaths. The committee is expected to submit its formal findings on Saturday.
