Parliament session adjourned till April 15

The first session of the 13th National Parliament has been adjourned until 11:00 a.m. on April 15 (Wednesday). Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad Bir Bikram announced the adjournment.

91 bills were passed in this session. The matter was not discussed in the parliament as there was no amendment proposal on the bills raised in the morning session of the 13th day of the first session of the 13th National Parliament. Bills are passed unanimously when the concerned ministers introduce them.

Out of a total of 133 Ordinances issued during the interim period, the Special Committee of Parliament recommended 98 unchanged and 15 with amendments. Out of the remaining 20, 4 are repealed and 16 are recommended to be strengthened into new bills.

Among the bills passed are Housing and Public Works Minister Zakaria Taher’s ‘Narayanganj Development Authority Bill, 2026′;  Barisal Development Authority Bill, 2026′; Mymensingh Development Authority Bill, 2026’; ‘Comilla Development Authority Bill, 2026’; ‘Rangpur Development Authority Bill, 2026′; Cultural Affairs Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (Amendment) Bill, 2026′; Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Abdul Awal Mintu Bangladesh Forestry Development Corporation Bill, 2026’; ‘Wildlife Conservation and Security Bill, 2026’; Finance Minister Amir Khusru Mahmud Chowdhury ‘Deposit Protection Bill, 2026’; ‘Excises and Salt Bill, 2026′; Value Added Tax and Supplementary Duties (Amendment) Bill, 2026’;  ‘Grameen Bank (Amendment) Bill, 2026′; Bangladesh Bank (Amendment) Bill, 2026′; Finance 2025-2026 Fiscal Year Bill, 2026’; Minister of Education ANM Ehsanul Haque Milan ‘Dhaka Central University Bill, 2026′ and Certain Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2026 relating to Universities’; Posts and Telecommunications Minister Fakir Mahbub Anam ‘National Data Management Bill, 2026’ and ‘Cyber Security Bill, 2026’ Women and Children Affairs Minister A ZM Zahid Hossain ‘Women and Children Torture Suppression (Amendment) Bill, 2026’ Liberation War Affairs Minister Ahmed Azam Khan ‘July Uprising Martyrs’ Families and July Fighters Welfare and Rehabilitation Bill, 2026′ moved the side motion and the bills were passed unanimously.

Besides, on behalf of Prime Minister Tariq Rahman, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed ‘Maheshkhali Integrated Development Authority Bill, 2026’; Second motions were moved and the bills passed unanimously.

Meanwhile, when Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury proposed to introduce the Bank Resolution Bill, 2026 in the Parliament, Saiful Islam Milan, a member of the opposition party (Jamaate-e-Islami) of Dhaka-12 Constituency, opposed the introduction of the bill and proposed to check public opinion on the bill. Later Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad Bir Bikram put the matter to vote. After a voice vote, the motion for public opinion was rejected and the bill was passed.

When Culture Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury proposed the ‘July Uprising Memorial Museum Bill, 2026’, Anishur Rahman, a member of the Madaripur-3 Constituency government party, proposed three amendments to the bill. The Speaker then accepted his amendments. Later the bill was passed in the fixed form in the Parliament.

In today’s session, Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain proposed the ‘Smoking and Tobacco Use Control (Amendment) Bill, 2026’ and it was passed by voice vote.
