At around 10:30 this morning, five people, including four members of the same family, were killed in a head-on collision between a passenger BRTC bus and an ambulance in Shankarpasha area of ​​Nagarkanda Sadar Upazila on the Dhaka-Barisal highway. The houses of all the deceased are in Madaripur. Four of them are Waheed Molla’s two sons Jahangir Molla (65) and Alamgir Molla (60), Jahangir’s wife Majeda Akhter alias Beli (55) and Alamgir’s wife Khushida Begum (50).

The relatives said that Alamgir Molla was bedridden due to paralysis for two years. His elder brother Jahangir Mollah hired an ambulance this morning for his treatment. At this time, Alamgir Mollah along with his wife, elder brother and his sick wife also boarded the ambulance. They were supposed to return to Madaripur today for treatment at Faridpur Medical College Hospital. But at around 10:30 in the morning, when reaching Shankarpasha area of ​​Nagarkanda Sadar Upazila on the Dhaka-Barisal highway, a BRTC bus collided with an ambulance. The ambulance overturned in this incident. On receiving the information, Nagarkanda Fire Service and Bhanga Highway Police Station went to the spot and started the rescue operation. Later, the bodies of five people including the driver were recovered from inside the ambulance. Some passengers of the bus sustained minor injuries in the accident. However, there was no major damage to the bus.

Rakib Molla, the nephew of the deceased, said, “My uncle Alamgir Molla has been sick for two years. He was going to Faridpur Medical to see a doctor. They died in a sudden road accident. None of us can accept their death. Everyone is saddened by their deaths. They were good people to everyone in the area. No one can accept that four members of a family will die like this.

Alamgir Mollah’s brother-in-law Ishtiaq Ahmed said, “The family sat on the road. The children of those killed became orphans. I don’t know how we will overcome this grief.

Neighbor Azad Howladar said, the old woman. Waheed Mollah has three sons and one daughter. He came from Dhaka after hearing the news of the death of two sons and their wives. This is by no means acceptable. The whole area is saddened by their death.

Jahangir Molla, Alamgir Molla and their two wives who died in the road accident will be buried in the family graveyard. Local people have already finished digging their graves in the family graveyard of Mulla Bari. Neighbors are cutting bamboo and digging soil in front of the house.

Neighbor Delwar Shikder said that the graves of the two deceased brothers and their wives were dug together. Rizia Begum, the mother of Jahangir and Alamgir, has been laid to rest next to her. The burial of four people together has never been done before in this area.
