Minibus crash on Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar highway leaves 14 injured

At least 14 people were injured late Thursday night when a passenger minibus overturned on the Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar highway in the Patiya area of Chattogram. The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. in the Mansa Badamtala locality.
According to the local highway police, the vehicle was traveling from Chattogram city toward the Patiya bus terminal when the driver lost control due to excessive speed, causing the bus to flip onto the road. Emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly thereafter to transport the injured passengers to the Patiya Upazila Health Complex.
Mizanur Rahman, a community medical officer at the health complex, reported to Prothom Alo that while 12 victims were treated on-site for their injuries, two others sustained severe wounds and were subsequently transferred to the Chattogram Medical College Hospital for advanced care.
Harunur Rashid, officer-in-charge of the Patiya Highway Police Station, confirmed that the damaged minibus has been seized and taken into police custody. Authorities have initiated an investigation and are expected to take further legal action regarding the circumstances of the crash.
