Man arrested after carrying stabbed wife to hospital in Coxs Bazar

A brutal domestic dispute in Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar, turned fatal on Thursday morning when a local mason allegedly stabbed his wife to death before carrying her body to a hospital. The victim, 28-year-old Parveen Akter, was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the Ukhiya Upazila Health Complex.
The incident occurred at approximately 8:00 a.m. in Paglir Bil village, located in the Haldiyapalong Union. According to family members and local authorities, the couple had been married for several years and had three sons together. Parveen’s sister, Yasmin Akter, stated that the violence erupted following a morning argument that began shortly after the suspect, Abdul Alam, finished his breakfast.

Witnesses at the scene recounted a macabre sequence of events, noting that Alam attempted to transport his wife to the medical facility by carrying her on his shoulders after the attack. Upon arrival at the hospital, bystanders detained Alam and immediately alerted local law enforcement. Police took the suspect into custody at the hospital before transporting him to the Ukhiya police station.
Ukhiya Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mujibur Rahman confirmed that the victim’s body has been recovered and sent to the Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy. While the motive remains under investigation, local officials and residents attributed the violence to ongoing domestic discord.

Authorities have also taken the suspect’s mother into protective custody for questioning as part of the ongoing investigation. Police are currently preparing to file formal charges against Alam as the legal process moves forward.
