Justice Md Habibul Gani sworn in as Supreme Court Appellate Division judge

Justice Md. Habibul Gani was sworn in as a judge of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court on Sunday. Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed administered the oath at the Judges’ Lounge of the Supreme Court at 9:30 a.m.
With this appointment, the total number of judges in the Appellate Division has reached five. The swearing-in ceremony was conducted by Supreme Court Registrar General Muhammad Habibur Rahman Siddiqui and attended by judges from both the Appellate and High Court divisions, invited guests, and court officials.
President Mohammed Shahabuddin appointed Justice Gani to the Appellate Division pursuant to Article 95(1) of the Constitution. The Law and Justice Division of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs issued a notification regarding the appointment on August 27, stating that the tenure would take effect from the date of his oath.
Prior to this appointment, Justice Gani served as a judge in the High Court Division. He began his judicial career on April 18, 2010, when he was appointed as an Additional Judge of the High Court Division, and was subsequently confirmed as a permanent judge of the division on April 15, 2012.
Justice Gani holds MSS and LLB degrees from the University of Chittagong. He enrolled as an advocate in the district courts on April 3, 1989, and was later enrolled as an advocate of the High Court Division of the Supreme Court on April 11, 1992.
