IUBAT: Celebrating the achievement of BATE accreditation for all engineering programs

The International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) is proud to have achieved ‘International Accreditation’ for all its engineering programmes.
This historic milestone was celebrated with a day-long colorful program at the IUBAT campus on Tuesday.

Accreditation is the formal recognition of the teaching and quality of an educational institution by an independent expert body. The only authorized body to ensure the quality of engineering and technology education in Bangladesh is the Board of Accreditation for Engineering and Technical Education (BATE) under the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB).
IUBAT Vice-Chancellor Prof. Abdur Rab said that the organization gives accreditation to a program when it thoroughly checks the learning environment, laboratories and curriculum of a university and finds it to be in accordance with international standards. Since BATE is a full member of the international agreement ‘Washington Accord’, the importance of this recognition given by them is worldwide. As a result, engineering degree students of the university who have achieved this international accreditation can get equal status and special priority in the field of higher education and multinational employment in the developed countries of the world without any additional qualification verification.

According to university sources, IUBAT’s four core engineering programs—Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE), Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering (CME)—have received international accreditation for six years under the Washington Accord by BAITE under IEB. Acquiring this accreditation for four programs together is a unique achievement among the private universities of the country.
The IUBAT campus was festive on Tuesday around this achievement. The day-long event was started by the Vice-Chancellor of the University. Through a discussion meeting chaired by Abdur Rob. Treasurer and Director (Administration) Prof. Selina Nargis, Dean of College of Engineering and Technology Prof. Dewan Muhammad Nuruzzaman, Dean of IUBAT School of Computer Science and Engineering Prof. Uppal Kanti Das, Chairman of Civil Engineering Department Prof. Md. Monirul Islam and other teachers and officials.
At the end of the program, a procession took place in the campus with the participation of teachers, students and alumni. The day-long event also included cultural performances with the participation of students. The special attraction was the performance of Ekushey Padak award winning band ‘Warface’.
According to university sources, as a result of this recognition, students will get higher education abroad, scholarship and job opportunities in multinational organizations. These international standards under the Washington Accord will open up new horizons in the global career of students and improve the quality of curriculum and teaching through regular assessment.
IUBAT, established in 1991 by renowned educationist Professor M Alimullah Mian, is one of the leading private universities in Bangladesh. Since its inception, the institution has been gaining national and international reputation for academic excellence, research and innovation. Achieving accreditation is a continuation of that.
