International Crimes Tribunal Chief Prosecutor Links Cultural Figure to Journalist Couple Murder Case

Chief Prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal Md. Aminul Islam has claimed that a prominent cultural figure is linked to the murder of journalist couple Sagar Sarowar and Meherun Runi.
The Chief Prosecutor disclosed the development during a briefing at his office on Sunday. While he confirmed the existence of evidence implicating a cultural personality, he declined to reveal the individual’s identity at this stage of the investigation.
According to Aminul Islam, the lead emerged while investigators were reviewing Call Detail Records (CDR) during the probe of an unrelated case. He stated that the digital footprint provided critical information connecting the figure to the high-profile double murder.
The killing of Sagar Sarowar and Meherun Runi, which occurred in February 2012, remains one of the most significant unsolved cases in the nation’s history. The tribunal’s latest findings suggest a new trajectory for an investigation that has spanned over a decade.
