Inauguration of Air Traffic Management Center at Shahjalal International Airport

Newly constructed ‘Air Traffic Management Center’ (ATMC) has been inaugurated at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport with the aim of making Bangladesh’s airspace more safe, efficient and international standard. Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanom officially inaugurated the center on Monday.

In the inauguration ceremony, the minister said, “The airspace of the country will be safer by introducing the modern and automatic air traffic management system. It will take our aviation sector to new heights.”

At that time, the Minister recalled the contribution of former President Ziaur Rahman and said that he laid the foundation of the aviation sector of this country by launching the new international airport in Kurmitola in 1980.

The minister also said that the government is working with the aim of making Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport a global aviation hub. He sought the cooperation of all concerned to achieve this goal.

State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism M Rashiduzzaman Millat was present as a special guest on the occasion. Apart from this, French Ambassador to Bangladesh Jean-Marc Serre-Charles, Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry Secretary Fahmida Akhtar, Civil Aviation Authority (BAB) Chairman Air Vice Marshal Mustafa Mahmud Siddique and Thales Vice President Nicolas were present.
